Li Delin

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Li Delin (* 531 ; † 591 ) was an advisor to the first Sui Emperor Wendi .

Li Delin was a close advisor to Yang Jian , who later became the first emperor of the Sui dynasty. In the tradition of Su Chuo, he worked to restore Chinese ecumenism as a cultural space. For this purpose he worked out the plans for the advance of the Sui troops into the area south of the Yangzi , which with the victory over the Chen dynasty in 589 resulted in an actual restoration of a unified Chinese rule. In his book Thoughts on the Mandate of Heaven , Li depicts the change of rule from the Northern Zhou Dynasty to the Sui as being willed by God. The work is filled with quotations that are supposed to give it a broader legitimizing basis.
