Li Desheng (geologist)

Li Desheng ( Chinese  李德生 , Pinyin Lǐ Déshēng ; born October 17, 1922 in Suzhou ) is a Chinese expert on petroleum geology and a Chinese communist politician.

Studies and professional career

Li studied geology at the Central National University (ZNU) in Beijing . He then worked as chief geologist at the Petroleum Research and Surveying Institute of the National Petroleum Company of Beijing. Li has worked in oil research, oil processing and geological research for many years. After the discovery of the Daqing oil fields at the time of the " Great Leap Forward " in 1959, he was a member of the staff there. During this time he developed in particular methods for the optimal exploitation of the oil fields.

From the mid-1960s he took part in the construction of the oil fields in the Gulf of Bohai . During this time, too, he was instrumental in improving the methods of exploitation and processing.

In later years he was a professor and chief engineer at the Beijing Petroleum Research and Surveying Institute. Since 1991 he has been working as a scientist at the Academy of Sciences .

Political career

At the 9th Congress of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) , he was elected a member of the Central Committee (Central Committee) in 1969. He was a member of the Central Committee until the 13th Party Congress in 1987.

Publications

He is also a member of the foreign editorial staff of the journal "Marine and Petroleum Geology".
