Li Yajun (born April 27, 1993 ) is a Chinese weightlifter . In 2013 she became world champion in the weight class up to 53 kg.

Career

Li Yajun, a 20-year-old athlete from Guangdong , became world champion in the weight class up to 53 kg in Wrocław in October 2013. Her duel performance was 221 kg (100–121). She also won the world title with her performances in snatching and pushing because she was a few grams lighter than Cristina Iovu , a Moldovan who preferred Azerbaijan and achieved the same performances. Cristina Iovu was subsequently disqualified from the international weightlifting association for doping.

For Li Yajun, the start at this world championship was the first at an international championship. It was only at the beginning of 2013 that she was promoted to the top class of Chinese weightlifters in this weight class. In March 2013 she started at the Chinese championship and finished there with a performance of 215 kg (100-115) behind Li Ping , 220 kg (100-120) and Zhang Wangqiong , 215 kg (95-120) in 3rd place.

Li Yajun won the starting place in the Chinese team at the Chinese national games in Shenyang in September 2013. She won there with 227 kg (105-122) in front of Li Yan, 222 kg (101-121) and Zhang Wangqiong, 221 kg (98-123). Her performance in tearing 105 kg was 2 kg above the existing world record. Since this competition was not an international one, the World Weightlifting Federation (IWF) could not recognize her performance as an official world record.
