Liane Buchholz

Liane Buchholz (* 1965 in Eisenach ) is a German scientist and manager . From 1998 to 2016 she taught as a professor for business administration at banks at the Berlin School of Economics and Law . From January 1, 2014 to March 31, 2017, she was General Manager of the Association of German Public Banks , VÖB. Since April 1, 2017, Buchholz has been President of the Savings Banks Association Westphalia-Lippe and Chairwoman of the Association Board.

Life

After graduating from high school in Eisenach, Buchholz studied finance from 1984 to 1988 at the Berlin School of Economics . There she then worked as a research assistant until 1991 and received her doctorate . She then moved to the Berlin Institute for Social Science Studies as a research assistant. In 1992 Liane Buchholz joined the East German Savings Bank Association as a consultant . In 1998 she founded a company for bank control systems and also took over the management for eleven years. From 2009 until she joined VÖB, Buchholz was the head of the Management Academy of the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe .

From 1998 to 2016, Buchholz taught as a professor of business administration for banks at the Berlin School of Economics and Law, during which time she specialized in research and teaching on risk management. She attracted attention early on as an expert in regulatory issues and was honored with the National Leadership Award of the Economic Forum Germany in 2006 for her thesis paper on Basel II .

Buchholz was a member of the Board of Directors and the Credit Committee of the Investitionsbank Berlin from 2004 to 2014 . From 2014 to 2017 she was chairwoman of the advisory board of VÖB-Service GmbH. As a representative of the credit institutions, she is a member of the advisory board of the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin).

Buchholz has been President of the Savings Banks Association Westphalia-Lippe since April 1, 2017.
