Library.nu , originally gigapedia.com , was a website that offered books digitally for download .

The website offered around 400,000 books, mainly related to education. According to estimates by the German book trade association, the platform is said to have had a turnover of 8 million euros. The operator of ifile.it described the estimates as ridiculous, the income would barely cover the server costs.

According to the indictment, the filehoster ifile.it is said to be connected to the platform's website . Library.nu ceased operations in February 2012 after preliminary injunctions by the Munich I Regional Court . The order was issued through the efforts of a total of 17 publishers. These were: Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co. KG , Informa UK Limited, The McGraw-Hill Companies Inc. , John Wiley & Sons Inc. , Verlag CH Beck , Elsevier , Springer Verlag GmbH , Oxford University Press , Cambridge University Press , Cengage Learning Inc., Pearson Education Inc. and Limited, HarperCollins Publishers , Hogrefe Verlag , The Chancellor, Masters and Scholars of the University of Oxford, Macmillan Publishers Ltd. and the Georg Thieme Verlag .
