Lichen Iceland (of English union , Lichen ' ) is a small island in the southern part of Prydz Bay in front of the Ingrid Christensen Coast of the East Antarctic Princess Elisabeth country . It is located north of the Bølingen archipelago and 4 km northwest of Cleft Island .
Australian scientists visited them on February 5, 1966 as part of the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions . The Australian polar explorer Phillip Law named it after the lichens that were found there in large numbers .
