The Lichen Promontory is a peninsula on the west side of the Antarctic Ross Island . It is located between Horseshoe Bay and Maumee Bight . The Rocky Point is their seaborne foothills. It consists of dark ledges interspersed with snow fields.
The New Zealand Antarctic Place-Names Committee named them after lichens found here .
