Licinius (* around 540; † on November 1st around 610) ( French: Saint Lézin ), German also Lezin , was Count of Anjou from 587 to around 592, after which he was Bishop of Angers from 592 to around 610.

Life

According to other sources, Licinius became bishop of Angers around 585. He is said to have been friends with Bertrand from Le Mans . Pope Gregory "the Great" asked Licinius for help with the mission in England. In Angers he built the monastery consecrated to John the Baptist and later named after him.

effect

He is considered a saint of the Orthodox and Catholic Churches. His public holiday in the Orthodox Church is February 13th, in the Catholic Church his feast day is celebrated on November 1st.

Magnobod of Angers had Licinius' relics transferred to the monastery he founded in Angers.
