Lick is an impact crater on the eastern edge of the lunar front , on the southwestern edge of Mare Crisium , southwest of Picard crater, and immediately south of the smaller but more noticeable Greaves . Except for the rim of the wall, the crater is almost completely flooded by the Marelavas .

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the American science patron James Lick .
