Liddel Castle is an abandoned low castle in Liddesdale , the valley of Liddel Water , in the municipality of Castleton in the Scottish county of Roxburghshire (now part of the Scottish Borders administrative unit ).

Liddel Castle is a Scheduled Monument .

history

Liddel Castle probably had Ranulph de Soules built in the 12th century. It was the caput of his baronate that King David I had given him.

The last written mention of the wooden moth comes from the beginning of the 14th century. Today only earthworks remain.
