Love stories and marriage matters is an Austrian television show that has been broadcast on ORF 2 since 1997 .

The program title comes from the name of the farce Liebesgeschichten und Heurathssachen by Johann Nestroy . In each episode, Elizabeth T. Spira (1942–2019) visited single people at home who were looking for a life partner through the dating service on television. The broadcast style should provide the viewer with the most comprehensive personality of the candidate possible.

The program runs during the summer months on ORF and achieved top ratings with up to a million viewers. The program is also broadcast on 3sat as a repeat at irregular intervals .

The 22nd season was produced in 2018. The 23rd season with the 42 interviews conducted by Spira before her death on March 9, 2019 was broadcast in ten episodes in the summer of 2019. The completion was carried out by her Wega Film team in cooperation with ORF, including film editor Claudia Linzer and the editorial staff Stefanie Speiser and Natalie Wimberger, as well as ORF program manager Sharon Nuni.

In October 2019, after a long period of uncertainty, the ORF announced that it would continue the broadcast in 2020. One wants to be careful with Spira's legacy. Nina Horowitz was chosen as the new presenter . The new 24th season has been broadcast since July 6, 2020 at the usual broadcasting slot on Mondays at 8:15 p.m. on ORF 2 and consists of eight candidate episodes and two balance sheet editions. The concept that was tried and tested under Spira was largely retained; Graphics, opening and closing song have been changed. Instead of the circled red heart, red heart-shaped balloons are now the trademark of the program.
