Liefmans Brewery

Liefmans is a traditional Belgian brewery in the East Flanders town of Oudenaarde . Liefmans has been part of the Duvel Moortgat Group since June 2008 .

history

The brewery was founded in 1679 by Jacobus Liefmans, who established himself as a brewer in Oudenaarde. The historical buildings on the river Schelde are more than 300 years old and today house a brewery museum and an event hall.

In 1990 Liefmans was acquired by the Riva Brewery from Dentergem . In 2008 the brewery had to file for bankruptcy. The brewery in Dentergem was closed and the Liefmans brewery was sold to Duvel Moortgat .

Types of beer

The brewery Liefmans is known for its Kriek and Fruchtlambic beers.

  • Cuvée-Brut : blend of Goudenband, Oud Bruin and cherries with 6% alcohol by volume.
  • Goudenband : dark beer with 8% alcohol by volume
  • Oud Bruin : dark beer with 5% alcohol by volume
  • Fruitesse : Fruit beer with four red fruits and 3.8% alcohol by volume
