Liesel Knorr

Elisabeth "Liesel" Knorr (born February 24, 1948 in Cologne ) is a German economist and auditor . She was President of the German Accounting Standards Committee eV (DRSC) .

Life

education

From 1966 to 1971 Knorr studied business administration at the University of Cologne . She completed her studies with a degree in business administration . In 1982 she passed the professional examination as a tax advisor and in 1984 as an auditor .

Professional career

In 1978, Knorr started as an examination assistant at KPMG Deutsche Treuhand-Gesellschaft in Düsseldorf. She worked for KPMG in Düsseldorf , Brussels and Cologne and was appointed partner in 1988. In 1990 she was sent to Bulgaria on behalf of the European Commission , to Vietnam in 1993 and to Russia in 1993/1994 .

From July 1994 to June 1999 she was the Technical Director of the International Accounting Standards Committee .

In 1999 she became managing director and later general secretary of the German Accounting Standards Committee eV (DRSC) . From July 2007 to November 2011 she was President of the German Standardization Council at the DRSC and, after the restructuring of the DRSC, from December 1, 2011 President of the DRSC. On March 1, 2015 she left the DRSC, her successor as DRSC President was Andreas Barckow .

Functions at the university

From 2001 to 2015 Knorr held a lectureship in International Accounting at the University of Potsdam . There she was awarded an honorary doctorate in 2012 .

During her tenure at the DRSC, Knorr was temporarily u. a. member

the Technical Expert Group of the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG)
of the IFRS Advisory Council (IFRS AC)
of the International Forum of Accounting Standard Setters (IFASS)

In 2016 she was elected chairwoman of IFASS (in accordance with the statutes for a maximum of three years). Her term ended in March 2019.
