Liesl Whitaker

Liesl Whitaker (* 1969 as Liesl Sagartz ) is an American jazz trumpeter .

Live and act

Whitaker graduated from Lucky High School in 1987 , then went on to study at Appalachian State University College and the University of Cincinnati Conservatory . In 1991 she played for three months on the Spanish television show Tu a Tu and on the cruise ships of Carnival Cruise Lines . In 1992 she became a founding member of the women's big band Diva , with whom she toured internationally and recorded several albums. There she acts as first trumpeter. She was also a member of the Ed Palermo Big Band , the Alamance Jazz Band and the New York Pops Orchestra and played in various Broadway productions.

As Sergeant First Class she plays the lead trumpet with the US Army Field Band's Jazz Ambassadors and the United States Army Blues Jazz Ensemble . She is the first woman to appear in central orchestras in the US Army.
