LDU Quito de Loja , also known as Liga de Loja , one was established in 1979 is of Ecuadorian football club based in Loja , Loja province , which is currently in the Serie B play.
history
The Liga de Loja association was founded in 1979 as an association of the Universidad Nacional de Loja . The club rose to Serie B for the first time in 1990 . After another relegation to the second category (third division), 2003 succeeded in renewed promotion to the second division. A year later succeeded as runner-up in the second division of the march through to Serie A , from the Liga de Loja, however, relegated again after a year. After five years in the second division, the club became second division champions in 2010 and rose to the first division for the second time.
Liga de Loja has qualified three times for the Copa Sudamericana . The club was eliminated when they first played in 2012 in the round of 16 against eventual winners São Paulo FC only because of the away goals rule . A year later, in 2013 , Loja failed again in the round of 16, this time at CA River Plate . In the third participation, in 2015 Loja was eliminated in the first round against the eventual winner Independiente Santa Fe from Colombia.
After relegation for the third time, Liga de Loja is back in Serie B in 2016.
Stadion
Liga de Loja plays its home games at the Estadio Federativo Reina del Cisne . The stadium was inaugurated in 1980 and has a capacity of 14,935 seats.
