Ligretto is a card game for two to four players (with several different colored packages for up to twelve players) who try to place their cards as quickly as possible on common stacks in the middle (each from 1–10 and sorted by color). Since all players can lay down at the same time, the game demands reaction speed . The game was published in 1988 (initially under the name Legretto ) by Rosengarten Spiele (Michaels KG); since 2000 Ligretto has been distributed by Schmidt Spiele .

history

In The Great Book of Games , Leipzig, 1927, Robert Hülsemann describes a card game with a standard hand that is almost identical in terms of the rules and called the Rasender Teufel . The North American game Dutch Blitz can also be considered an ancestor . Dutch Blitz is now particularly popular among Pennsylvania Germans and Amish , and goes back to the German emigrant Werner Ernst George Müller, who invented the game in 1959 to give children a better understanding of numbers and colors.

Course of the game

At the beginning of the game, each player receives 40 cards (10 each of the colors red, yellow, green and blue), which are marked on the back with a special symbol for this player. These are shuffled at the start of the game and 10 are placed on the table in an open pile . There are 3 cards next to each other with the game side up. You keep the remaining cards face down in your hand .

The aim of the game is to clear the pile with the 10 cards and to score as many points as possible.

Cards are placed in the center in ascending order of numbers according to color.

If you have taken a card from the 3 open cards, you fill the gap from the pile of ten. If you cannot place any of the table cards, you search your hand cards by always turning over every third card, which you can then place in the middle according to the rules.

As soon as you have played the stack of ten, you shout "Ligretto stop!" And thus end the game round.

The cards in the middle are now counted and each player receives one point for each of his cards from the middle based on the marking on the back. Unplayed cards from the pile of ten are deducted twice when counting the points .

Good Ligretto players try to play as many cards in hand as possible and still clear the pile of ten before all other players, as they then get a deduction depending on how many cards they have left in the pile of ten.

Awards

The Working Committee for Children's Play + Toys eV awarded Ligretto the award spiel gut as a recommended game .
