Liisi Koikson (born June 4, 1983 in Kilingi-Nõmme ) is an Estonian singer.

Life and music

Liisi Koikson graduated from high school in her Estonian hometown Kilingi-Nõmme and the Georg Ots State Music Academy ( Georg Otsa nimeline Tallinna Muusikakool ) in Tallinn .

Liisi Koikson first appeared on television at the age of eight. She later took part in numerous Estonian music competitions, including the young talent competition of the Estonian television company Laulukarussel (in which she took first place twice), the Raimond Valgre singing competition, at Estvokaal and the Estonian preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest . At the age of eleven, Liisi Koikson took part in the 37th Zecchino d'Oro in 1994 ; with Se voglio (original: Sõit pilvelaeval ) she won the second prize for songs from abroad ( Zecchino d'Argento Canzoni Straniere ). At the Eurovision Song Contest 2002 in Tallinn, she was a background singer for Malta .

Liisi Koikson has appeared as a singer in numerous musicals in Estonia, including Evita , Aida , The Sound of Music , Grease , Miss Saigon and Jesus Christ Superstar .

She is also a successful (solo) singer and songwriter in the country. Many of their recordings landed in the top positions of the Estonian hit parade. In 2003 and 2005 she was voted “Artist of the Year”.

In 2008 Koikson starred in the Estonian feature film Detsembrikuumus , directed by Asko Kase, as the leading female actress .
