Lil Small (* 15. October 1994 in Amsterdam as Jorik Scholten ), even Lil 'Little wrote, is a Dutch rapper from Amsterdam. He became known in 2015 with the number one hit Drank & Drugs , which was also successful a year later in the German-language version Stoff & Schnaps .

biography

In his early youth, Jorik Scholten, aka Lil Kleine, was engaged in dance and acting. The meeting with the rapper Lange Frans brought him into the music business and he accompanied him on tour in his early days. His first EP release was called Tuig van de riggel and his song Het leven is een melodie became the title track of the film De groeten van Mike . In 2015 he recorded two pieces with Ronnie Flex . Zeg das niet was published on the sampler New Wave and brought him his first smaller chart placement. After that, however, the second song Drank & drugs , which had already appeared before, became a summer hit and rose to number 1 in the Dutch charts, where it lasted three weeks.

At the beginning of 2016, Lil Kleines debut album Wop! and jumped straight into number 1. It was at the top for 9 weeks and more than three and a half years, with two small interruptions, in the top 100 of the Dutch album charts. It took fourth place in the 2016 hit parade. Two more songs with the participation of Ronnie Flex made it into the top 10.

The song Drank & drugs and the album also achieved top 10 placements in Dutch-speaking Belgium ( Flanders ) and that's why Lil Kleine and Flex decided to record a German version of the song and publish it in the neighboring country. A year after its success in the Netherlands, Stoff und Schnaps also made it into the German charts, it reached number 16 and stayed in the best list for 24 weeks. It also hit the charts in Austria.

Around the same time, the second album Alleen was released in the Netherlands , with which he returned to number 1 and this time was even at the top for 12 weeks, longer than the world's most successful album of the year ÷ [Divide] by Ed Sheeran . In the annual list, however, Sheeran was at the top and Lil Kleine was at number 2. He had four other top 10 hits this year, including Krantenwijk and Alleen , with 7 and 4 platinum awards respectively, his two most commercially successful hits, both of them were among the top 10 of the year. A nationwide tour with 11 concerts sold out in one day. In 2018 he was featured on the only hit by Julien Willemsen alias Shirak , who produced his hits and albums, and was again in the top 10. The collaboration Verleden tijd with The Hague rapper Frenna became his second number one hit in the Single charts and his second place 2 in the annual hit parade.

After that, the rapper became quieter and there were no new releases for several months. His first child was born in the middle of 2019. His next album Jongen van de straat was not released until spring 2020 and again entered the charts at number 1.
