Ronnie Flex
Ronnie Flex (* 16th April 1992 in Capelle aan den IJssel as Ronell Langston Plasschaert ) is a Dutch rapper and music producer . He is under contract with the Top Notch label and has so far released two studio albums, both of which entered the Dutch album charts . With the single Drank & Drugs he reached number one in the Dutch single charts. In Germany and Austria he achieved a chart placement with the German version Stoff & Schnaps .
Career
Plasschaert grew up with his mother in Capelle aan den IJssel . He attended the Catholic Primary School De Contrabas and then graduated from Roncalli College. He also took part in classes at the Zadkine Pop Academy.
When he was 13, Plasschaert began producing individual beats and writing rap lyrics. Shortly thereafter, Diggy Dex brought Plasschaert into contact with the Dutch rap star Gers Pardoel, on whose debut album Plasschaert produced the instrumental of the intro Float . In 2012, Plasschaert received the Dutch State Award in the Newcomers of the Year category and reached the final of the Dutch Grand Prix. Shortly thereafter, he signed a contract with the record label Top Notch . This was followed by collaborations with the successful Dutch duo Yellow Claw , Boaz van de Beatz, mocro Maniac and Jebroer with the title Nooit Meer Slapen . This reached number 38 in the Dutch Top 40. Later that year the song Soldaatje was released , together with Mr. Polska.
On March 20, 2013 Plasschaert released his first solo album Tankstation . Later the two EPs Pocahontas and Zusje were released . The song of the same name reached number 25 in the Dutch singles charts. In December 2014, the music video for Zusje was the fourth most viewed music video in the Netherlands. On November 14th, 2014 Plasschaert released his debut album De Nacht Is Nog Jong, Net Als Wij Voor Altijd .
His second studio album, New Wave , was released on April 20, 2015. The extracted songs No go zone , Kan er niet omheen , Zeg dat niet and Liegen voor de rechter , all of which were created in collaboration with Lil 'Kleine , were able to achieve a placement in the Dutch Top 100. On May 22, 2015, the song Drank & Drugs was also released with Lil 'Kleine . This became a hit in a very short time and was at the top of the Dutch single charts for three weeks. In the summer of 2015 he performed with Lil 'Kleine at the Lowlands and Pukkelpop festivals . In 2015 he took part in the TV show "Expedition Robinson".
In 2016 he was awarded the Popprijs for his second album New Wave on Noorderslag. A second time in first place in the Netherlands, he was with Niet omdat het moet , also with rapper Lil 'Kleine. Drank & Drugs was translated into German in summer 2016 and published under the title Stoff & Schnaps . This version of the song rose to number 16 in the German single charts .
On February 12, 2016 he released the songs 1, 2, 3 and Niet omdat het moet together with Lil 'Kleine , both of which were on his studio album Wop! were included. The duo reached number 5 on the Dutch singles chart. 1, 2, 3 was translated into German and thus formed the follow-up to Stoff & Schnaps , but could not continue its success.
During a concert by the Belgian DJ duo Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike in Antwerp, Ronnie Flex appeared together with Boef and Ali B as a guest musician. Together they presented a selection of songs as well as a collaboration with Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and Quintino. This was called Slow Down and was released as a single on March 23, 2018. The song advanced to number 14 in the Dutch single charts. He was part of the soundtrack of the Belgian crime film Patser , to which he also contributed the song Patsergang , which was also made with Boef.
