Astrid Myriam Mathyshek , (* 1989 in Wörth an der Donau ) is a German opera and concert singer ( mezzo-soprano ).

Life

Mathyshek grew up in Regensburg and began her professional vocal training with KMD Hubert Velten in Regensburg at the age of 13 . Already as a child she did a lot of concerts. She was a two-time winner of Jugend musiziert , at the age of 15 and again at the age of 18. As a teenager she took part in several scenic and concert music performances, in which she a. a. Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro and Christine sang in a production of the musical The Phantom of the Opera . From 2008 to 2009 she was a member of the Bavarian State Youth Choir.

After graduating from high school in 2009, she began studying opera at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna . Her teachers included u. a. Anton Scharinger . She also received additional private singing lessons from Ingeborg Hallstein in Munich. In 2013 she completed an operetta masterclass with Ingeborg Hallstein. At the final concert she performed two operetta excerpts ( Die Fledermaus , Sissy ).

In 2013 she appeared as Midili in the operetta Die Rose von Stambul at the Isny ​​Opera Festival. In October 2014 she sang Amor in Orfeo ed Euridice in a performance with the Prague Philharmonic in the Carf Orff Hall in Gasteig Munich . In October 2015 she appeared as Hederl in the operetta Das Dreimäderlhaus at the Herbstliche Musiktage Bad Urach and was heard in this role in a radio broadcast of the performance on SWR .

Mathyshek also took part in several independent music theater productions. In 2015 she took on the role of Angelina in La Cenerentola in performances of the independent Munich opera stage “Theater werkmünchen” in the opera pasticcio “Behind the seven doors: Puccini meets Geierwally” . In 2018 she sang the role of Olga in Eugen Onegin at the Ludwigstheater Aschaffenburg. In 2019 Mathyshek was heard as Romeo in a performance of Nicola Vaccai's opera Giulietta e Romeo at Guteneck Castle .

Mathyshek began her singing career as a lyric soprano . During her studies she developed into a lyrical mezzo-soprano with a pronounced ability to coloratura . Due to her dance training and the intensive work on the representation of male roles (master class, among others with Diane Torr ), Mathyshek is particularly active as a "male actress", i.e. as a male actress, in trouser roles.
