Lilienberg (2007)

The Lilienberg is a former mansion from the 19th century in the municipality of Ermatingen in the canton of Thurgau ( Switzerland ). The building in the late classical style is located - opposite the island of Reichenau - on a gentle hill between Seerücken and Untersee .

In 1839/40, the Prussian Baroness Caroline von Waldau had the Villa Lilienberg and park built on a former rural property in the so-called Breitengut, presumably by a Corsican architect . In 1846 an economic building (coach house and stables) was added. Other owners in the 19th century were Baroness Betty von Fingerlin from Constance (a cousin of the later Napoleon III ), the Belgian Count Livius Caimo and the merchants Alwin Bion from St. Gallen and later Kaspar Pfeiffer from Rottweil.

In 1897 the Lilienberg moved into the ownership of the Volkart brothers , who ran a leading trading company in Winterthur, and in 1935, through marriage, to that of the Reinhart family. The industrialist and art patron Werner Reinhart then renovated the villa and the park, and his brother Oskar Reinhart later expanded the park with a pavilion in an elevated position, a fountain and various sculptures (including by Hermann Haller ).

In 1985 the area - where the dermatologist Paul Bigliardi had last lived and practiced - was then acquired by the Lilienberg Entrepreneur Forum of the industrialist Walter Reist and his wife Lotti. Walter Reist (* 1927), patron of an internationally active family company in conveyor and processing technology , was a supporter of the then Association of Free Entrepreneurship (VfU). He had the Lilienberg converted into a spacious meeting place for entrepreneurs according to plans by Esther and Rudolf Guyer . Since the spring of 1989, entrepreneurial personalities from a wide variety of economic sectors have been exchanging ideas on the Lilienberg at conferences, colloquia and seminars lasting several days. In addition to these around 50 foundation-owned events, the Lilienberg also serves as a beautifully situated seminar and event location.
