Lina Meittinger (born November 18, 1856 in Pasing , † August 10, 1928 in Munich ) was a German actress and soubrette .

Life

At the age of eight, Lina Meittinger was already on stage at the opening of the Munich Aktientheater , the forerunner of today's Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz . From 1877 to 1927 she was a member of the ensemble of the Munich theater. There she was mainly seen in comical roles:

"Her heyday began around 1880 with the heyday of the Upper Bavarian folk piece. She played the Reserl in Ganghofer's 'Hergottschnitzer', the Stasi in the 'Zwiderwurzn' and, above all, the Loni in 'Jägerblut'. Also the Josefa in Anzengruber's 'Fourth Commandment' should not be forgotten. For nine years, under Max Hofpauer's direction, the artist took part in the glorious tours of the 'Münchner' and traveled far and wide. After her return to the gardening theater, a thankful field opened up for her in 1900 The domain of the comical as well as the hilarious old folks. Her tutor Mirabella from the "Gypsy Baron" should be mentioned, as well as her court master in Ascher's operetta "Highness tanzt Walzer". She had already created this role, one of her masterpieces, at the premiere in 1913. And she had wished to play it again on her 50th stage anniversary in 1920. " (Bavarian State Theater on Gärtnerplatz, 1965, p. 102).

Lina Meittinger had also acted in several films: "Victim of Vice" (1919), "Empress Elisabeth of Austria", in which she played the mother of the legendary Empress, and "Valencia, you most beautiful of all roses" (1927). In the Bavarian State Theater she made a few attempts in the serious subject, albeit with little success, because the Munich audience only loved her as a comedian.
