The Linares is a Spanish river in La Rioja .

The Linares rises near Oncala , in the province of Soria , at 1596 meters above sea level . It flows into the Alhama near Cervera del Río Alhama , which in turn flows into the Ebro .

The Linares got its name from the common flax ( Spanish : lino ) that was cultivated on its course in earlier times . Flax cultivation has now been replaced by the cultivation of vegetables and fruit trees.
