The Lindis River is a river in the region Otago on the South Island of New Zealand .

It is a left tributary of the Clutha River . It flows over the Lindis Pass 55 km in a southerly direction. The State Highway 8 follows the valley of the river from the pass until shortly before Tarras and then flows into Lindis Crossing north of Lake Dunstan in the Clutha.
