The line 1 or Awtosawodskaja line ( Russian Автозаводская линия ) is the first of now two subway lines of the Metro Nischni Novgorod and transmits the symbol "M1". It went into operation in 1985 in Nizhny Novgorod (today Russia ) and crosses the city on a north-west-south-east axis. The transfer station to the second line, which it does not cross, but only touches, is the station "Moskowskaja" ( Russian Московская ). The line serves eleven stations and 15.1 kilometers (9.4 kilometers) of the route and is thus around four times as long as the second line 2 ("M2") .

Depot and vehicles

The line is served by the Proletarskoye Depot . It was opened together with the first leg of Line 1 in 1985. Depot uses wagons from existing trains of the series 81-717 / 714 (since 1985), 81-717.5 / 714.5 (since 1991) and 81-717.6 / 714.6 (since 2012). "D" series cars previously used on the line, but they were decommissioned in 1993.

history

chronology

On November 20, 1985, the 6.8-kilometer section from Moskovskaya to Proletarskaya was put into operation. The Nizhny Novgorod Metro had six stations at that time.

On August 8, 1987, a new section of the line from Proletarskaya to Komsomolskaya was opened. The extension of the route was 2.1 kilometers long and contained two stations.

November 15, 1989 the southern extension of the route by 2.4 kilometers from Komsomolskaya to Park Kultury was opened. It included two new stations.

On November 4, 2012, a new section of the line from Moskovskaya to Gorkovskaya was opened. Gorkovskaya became the first stop in the upper town. A metro bridge over the Oka River has been built between the stations, which is also open to ground transportation. The length of the route increased by 3.2 kilometers.

Renaming of stations

The Avtosavodskaya station  was originally supposed to be called Severnaya . Nearby is the Severnaya entrance to Gorkovsky Avtomobilny Zavod . The station Moskovsky Woksal was renamed in Moskovskaya . Park Kultury station was planned as Zhdanovskaya .

Expansion planning

The next stage is planned to extend the route to the center of the city - to the Opera House and Sennaya Square. Construction of the Gorkovskaya – Sennaya section is expected to begin in 2018 and should be completed by 2021 on the 800th anniversary of Nizhny Novgorod.

In the approved urban development plan, the construction of a line 3 (Nagornaja) to the upper town is planned, which is to have 15 stations. There are also plans to turn the Operny teatr station into a transfer station with line 1.
