Linn Products is a Scottish company founded by Ivor Tiefenbrun in Glasgow in 1972 , which produces high-quality hi-fi and home theater equipment as well as audio playback systems for several rooms and ships . Sound carriers are also produced under the name Linn Records .

The name Linn was first used in 1973 when the Sondek LP 12 turntable was launched on the market. This turntable was based on the legendary TD 150, which has been manufactured by Thorens since 1965 , as the inspiration behind this record . From this model, Linn adopted the concept of the free-swinging inner housing (sub-chassis), which is decoupled from the outer housing. The Sondek model is still in production - in a revised form; over 100,000 units have now been sold. Thorens, too, has continued to develop the sub-chassis concept and continues to build turntables based on this principle to this day.

In 1975 the Isobarik loudspeaker is presented, the manufacture of which is based on a patented principle.

Electronic components have been manufactured at Linn since the early 1980s, later the CD 12 CD player became the flagship. The production of the CD 12 ended in 2005 after eight years. In 2007, Linn's Akurate CD player was at the top of the international comparison field, which also includes companies such as Lindemann, Krell, Wadia, Mark Levinson and Accuphase .

A special feature at Linn is the use of switched-mode power supplies to power even the high-end devices. This allows quite compact device dimensions to be achieved.

Linn is also one of the first high-end manufacturers to fully rely on digital network players. These devices play music from CDs or other sources that are available on NAS systems in the home network.

According to ISO 9001 : 2000 ( quality management system) in 2002, this is Linn's second international ISO certification.
