Linqing

Linqing ( Chinese  临清 市 , Pinyin Línqīng Shì ) is an independent city in the east Chinese province of Shandong . It has approx. 720,000 inhabitants (end of 2003), an area of ​​950 km² and belongs to the administrative area of ​​the district-free city of Liaocheng . Linqing is located at the confluence of the Wei He and the Great Canal .

Linqing plays an important role in the history of China, including the brick factory that made bricks for the Forbidden City . The still relatively well-preserved city wall testifies to the historical importance.
