The Haltitunturi (short: Halti ; also: Haltiatunturi ; North Sami Haldi ; Swedish Haldefjäll ) is a Fjell ( tunturi ) in Norway and Finland . With a height of 1324 meters, it is the highest point in Finland.

Halti is located in the far northwest of the country in the province of Lapland , on the border with Norway . The highest peak of the Halti massif, the 1365 meter high Ráisduattarháldi is located on the Norwegian side around two kilometers north of the border. The height of the highest point in Finland has long been given as 1328 meters, but this measuring point is actually just on the Norwegian side. The highest point on the Finnish side has a height of 1324 meters. The mountain top is only 25 km (as the crow flies) from the sea ( Kåfjord in the Norwegian province of Troms og Finnmark ). The shortest ascent is on the Norwegian side.

In Norway, from 2015 to 2016 there were considerations to give Finland the 1331 m high sub-peak Haldičohkka as a gift for the 100th anniversary of the Finnish declaration of independence in 2017 . To do this, the Finnish-Norwegian state border would have to be relocated around 200 m to the northwest. In October 2016, however, these plans were rejected by Prime Minister Erna Solberg because of excessive legal hurdles.
