Liodesmus is a genus of extinct bony fish from the order of sheet-finned (Amiiformes). Theyoccurredin the Upper Jurassic in European seas. Fossils of the genus were found in the Solnhofen limestone but are rare.

Liodesmus was about 12 cm long and thus remained much smaller than other archfin. Her body was elongated, the triangular dorsal fin lay just behind the middle of the body. The pelvic fins were small and began slightly in front of the dorsal fin. The anal fin was small and pointed and began at the end of the dorsal fin. The pelvic fins were smaller than the anal fin. The caudal fin was indented and slightly heterocercous , the upper lobe somewhat enlarged and scaled. The head was short and thicker than the torso, the jaws were equipped with small, pointed teeth. The lower jaw arched slightly upwards at its tip.
