Lionel Town is a small town in southern Jamaica . The city is located in County Middlesex in the Parish Clarendon . At the 2011 census it had 3609 inhabitants. The city is named after Lionel Smith , who was governor of Jamaica from 1836 to 1839 .

Lionel Town is north of Jackson Bay , which is separated from the place by dense jungle. To the east, the city borders on extensive mangrove forests . The fishing village of Rocky Point is in the immediate vicinity to the west .
