Lions Den

Lions Den , translated: lions den, is a small place at 1,200 m altitude in the province of Mashonaland West west of Harare in Zimbabwe with a cessna-compatible air runway. Seven kilometers away is Zave , almost a suburb of Lions Den, the terminus of a branch line of the National Railways of Zimbabwe from Harare via Maryland . A few kilometers before that is Chinhoyi , an attractive tourist town.

Lions Den is known for its specialized breeding farms and safari tourism. With the exception of rhinos, all relevant animals can be found in the breeding lists, even the Cape buffalo. A lion farm breeds tame lions. Another 30 farms breed on areas around 5,000 hectares of wild animals of all kinds for hunting. To do this, they create water holes and dams for safaris to keep the animals on the site. The Gwayi valley and the Hwange area now have a density of animals that is similar to that of Amboseli Park in Kenyafar exceeds. Small farmers settle in between, mainly planting soy. To the east it is intensively used farmland with cattle breeding, tobacco, corn and cotton growing. It is a sparsely populated area from northwest to south and was a retreat for guerrilla fighters during the civil war. Soon after Lions Den begins the inaccessible Zambezi Valley with the borders to Zambia and Mozambique .
