Lior Navok
Lior Navok (born September 6, 1971 in Tel-Aviv ) is an Israeli composer and conductor .
Lior Navok studied at the Rubin Music Academy in Jerusalem and at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston . His works have been performed in major music festivals, including the Tanglewood Summer Festival, the Aspen Music Festival, the Zelt-Musik-Festival and the concert series Encounters 1999 in Innsbruck . He has also been awarded many prizes, including the Lili Boulanger Memorial Foundation Prize.
Lior Navok caused a sensation with his stage work The Little Mermaid , which is based on Hans Christian Andersen 's children's story The Little Mermaid . The dance group inFlux produced a performance of Lior Navok's 2006 work The Old Photobox .
Lior Navok's work is not directly related to a Jewish classical aesthetic, but contains a variety of stylistic influences. In several works, however, he deals with the subject of the Holocaust , for example in And the Trains Kept Coming ... (2007).
