The Lipski Chapel (also Skarszewski Chapel ) is one of the 19 chapels that surround the Kraków Cathedral . It is under the patronage of St. Matthew and St. Matthias and is located in the northern ambulatory .

history

The Gothic chapel was built in the first half of the 14th century. In 1620, Bishop Marcin Szyszkowski chose it as his burial chapel. However, it was eventually expanded to become a burial chapel for Bishop Andrzej Lipski by 1633 in the early Baroque style. Francesco Placidi carried out an extension in the late Baroque style for Cardinal Jan Aleksander Lipski between 1743 and 1746. The new altarpiece was created by Szymon Czechowicz .
