Lipton is a tea and iced tea brand . It belongs to the Unilever group, which together with other brands such as PG Tips ( United Kingdom ), Beseda ( Russia ) and Brooke Bond ( India ), has a 15.5% share of tea sales worldwide. Lipton alone accounts for around 10% of this proportion.

history

Thomas Lipton sailed to Ceylon in 1890 in search of the best teas in the world and then founded his first company in London . In the late 19th century, Lipton already had 300 employees in London. In 1892 he opened his second business in Glasgow and opened around 150 sales branches in England.

Products

The main products of the products sold under the Lipton brand are:

  • Lipton Yellow Label (since 1890). To date, tea is sold with this logo in 150 countries.

Lipton Institute of Tea

criticism

In 2012, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China complained about high levels of toxins in a variety of Lipton teas. Unilever responded by clearing the shelves of all affected products. Greenpeace reported about it on their homepage.
