Wild (family)

Dorothea Wild, 1815

The Wild family , along with the Hassenpflug family , was one of the earliest and most productive sources for the collection of children's and household tales (KHM) by the Brothers Grimm . This family also had Huguenot roots. Henriette Dorothea Wild later became Wilhelm Grimm's wife in 1825.

Two contributions are documented by the pharmacist's wife Dorothea Catharina Wild (1752–1813): KHM 18 straw, coal and bean and KHM 30 lice and fleas . As in other cases, the remainder probably came exclusively from the still unmarried daughters of the family.

From Margarete Marianne (Gretchen) Wild (1787–1819) came: KHM 2 Cat and Mouse in Society , KHM 3 Marienkind , KHM 58 The Dog and the Sparrow , KHM 154 The Stolen Heller , KHM 64a The White Dove , perhaps also KHM 59a Prince Swan .

From Henriette Dorothea (Dortchen) Wild (1793–1867) came: KHM 13 The three little men in the forest , KHM 24 Frau Holle , KHM 28 The singing bone , KHM 36 Little table, donkey and club from the sack (in the version of the 1st edition), KHM 39 Die Wichtelmänner , KHM 46 Fitchers Vogel , KHM 49 The Six Swans , KHM 52 König Drosselbart , KHM 55 Rumpelstiltskin (with Lisette Wild, 1782–1858), KHM 56 Der Liebste Roland , KHM 65 Allerleirauh , KHM 88 The singing, jumping Löweneckerchen , KHM 103 The sweet porridge , KHM 104 The clever people , KHM 105 Tale of the toad (with Lisette Wild), maybe also KHM 60a The gold egg .

From Marie Elisabeth Wild (1794–1858) came: KHM 44 Der Gevatter Tod . KHM 1 The Frog King or the Iron Heinrich probably also came from the Wild family .
