List of Albanian newspapers
The following list includes a selection of Albanian newspapers . Here are newspapers and magazines combined.
Media landscape
The press freedom came in Albania until the early 1990s, when the dictatorial regime of Enver Hoxha and his Labor Party was overthrown. Hoxha ruled the country for almost 50 years and did not allow newspapers to develop and distribute freely. Only the two party newspapers Bashkimi and Zëri i Popullit determined the media landscape in the country.
In January 2012, 28 daily newspapers appeared ; In 1991 the number was four. However, the daily circulation of all newspapers combined is no more than 70,000 copies and is therefore relatively low. The radio - especially the television - and the digital media today play a much more important role in the mass media in the country than the print media do.
