List of architectural monuments in Wasserburg (Bodensee)
On this page the monuments of the Swabian community Wasserburg (Lake Constance) are compiled. This table is a partial list of the list of architectural monuments in Bavaria . The basis is the Bavarian Monument List , which was first drawn up on the basis of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act of October 1, 1973 and has since been managed by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation . The following information does not replace the legally binding information from the monument protection authority.
Ensembles
Ensemble Former Insel Wasserburg
Until 1720 Wasserburg had the character of an island. The unique location in front of the north shore of Lake Constance prompted the St. Gallen Monastery in 924/25 to fortify the area against the Huns, on which it had already founded a St. George's Church in the 8th century. The 13th century castle was destroyed by the Swabian Association of Towns in 1358, then rebuilt and expanded by the successors of the property, the Counts of Montfort, and since 1592 Count Fugger; In the tower-like north-east wing, the St. Gallen building from 1282 is still preserved, around it are a wing building and farm buildings with large hipped roofs. On the southern tip of the peninsula, the late medieval St. George's Church, which was rebuilt in the 19th century, with its cemetery wall and the remaining defensive walls on the lake still has the character of a fortified church; The parsonage, which is essentially late medieval, has preserved its defensive character, albeit in the renovation of the 19th century. Between the castle and the church - not least thanks to the appreciation of the picturesque island area since the 19th century - the old schoolhouse and the former benefit house with the associated gardens have been preserved. Remarks
- ↑ This list may not correspond to the current status of the official list of monuments. The latter can be viewed on the Internet as a PDF using the link given under web links and is also mapped in the Bavarian Monument Atlas . Even these representations, although they are updated daily by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation , do not always and everywhere reflect the current status. Therefore, the presence or absence of an object in this list or in the Bavarian Monument Atlas does not guarantee that it is currently a registered monument or not. The Bavarian List of Monuments is also an information directory. The property of a monument - and thus the legal protection - is defined in Art. 1 of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act (BayDSchG) and does not depend on the mapping in the Monument Atlas and the entry in the Bavarian Monument List. Objects that are not listed in the Bavarian Monument List can also be monuments if they meet the criteria according to Art. 1 BayDSchG. Early involvement of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation according to Art. 6 BayDSchG is therefore necessary in all projects.
