List of architectural monuments in Clenze

Clenze
Clenze is the earliest documented place in the Hanoverian Wendland (year 956). A simple castle complex may have existed on today's Kirchberg. In the Middle Ages, the settlement area benefited from the fact that farmers from the deserted villages of Schwendel, Prilop and Böhlenbrück settled on today's Langen Straße. It was not until the end of the 19th century that the place experienced a significant further boom, combined with settlement expansions in the north and south. In a fire on September 22nd, 1827, part of the old settlement core (17 houses) including the church at that time was severely damaged or destroyed. Generous buildings from the reconstruction phase (often eaves, with transverse access and two-storey) differ significantly in style from the older building structure (gable-facing, lengthways, single-storey). Additional renovations, extensions and new buildings have resulted in a non-uniform ("disturbed") historical townscape.

Kirchberg 52 ° 55 ′ 59 ″ N, 10 ° 57 ′ 17 ″ E |
church | The Clenz Church of St. Bartholomew was built or completed in 1856 on the old, poured-in castle hill. A previous building that had been damaged by fire had previously been demolished. The tower of the neo-Gothic brick building is said to be reminiscent of that of St. Martin's Church in Hannover-Linden. With its exposed location, the church structure defines the townscape.

South-western outskirts 52 ° 55 ′ 36 ″ N, 10 ° 59 ′ 1 ″ E |
Chapel of the free church with surrounding trees | The half-timbered chapel was built on the southern edge of the village in 1878 after disputes between Gistenbeck's farmers and the official church led to the establishment of a free church. This still exists today. The mentioned trees in the immediate vicinity of the building were apparently removed (before / during a renovation in 1999?).
North-eastern outskirts 52 ° 55 ′ 42 ″ N, 10 ° 59 ′ 10 ″ E |
Chapel with cemetery | The small half-timbered chapel probably dates from the 17th century and is extremely rare. It stands in the middle of the village cemetery at the northeast entrance to the village. |
