List of the Righteous Among the Nations from Denmark
The list of the Righteous Among the Nations from Denmark lists in alphabetical order those Danes who have been honored by the Yad Vashem Memorial with the title Righteous Among the Nations . This title is given to non-Jewish individuals who, under National Socialist rule during World War II, gave their lives to save Jews from murder. So far, 22 Danes have received the title Righteous Among the Nations . The year numbers next to the names indicate the year the title was awarded.
- The Danish resistance movement against the German occupation saved 7,000 of the 8,000 Danish Jews by smuggling them into neutral Sweden . In Yad Vashem, at their own request, the resisters were not listed individually, but collectively as Righteous Among the Nations.
Nevertheless, 22 members of the Yad Vashem resistance were later accepted individually as Righteous Among the Nations:
