List of the Righteous Among the Nations from the Czech Republic
The list of the Righteous Among the Nations from the Czech Republic lists the Czechs in alphabetical order who have been honored by the Yad Vashem Memorial with the title Righteous Among the Nations . This title is awarded to non-Jewish individuals who, under National Socialist rule during the Second World War, gave their lives to save Jews from murder. 118 Czechs have so far been awarded the title Righteous Among the Nations .
The list is basically based on the information in the List of the Righteous Among the Nations from the Czech Republic by Yad Vashem, although the spelling of the letters characteristic of the Czech language (such as the "š", which is in the list of Yad Vashem as "s “Appears). In some cases the national affiliation of the respective righteous is not clear. This particularly often affects people who Yad Vashem has on the list of the righteous from Slovakia , but other sources refer to them as "Czechs". Both nationalities were not yet separated at the time of the rescue operations, but rather citizens of - German-occupied - Czechoslovakia , which dissolved in 1992 into the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The specified years refer to the year in which the title was awarded.
