List of the Righteous Among the Nations from the United Kingdom
The Righteous Among the Nations List includes Brits honored as Righteous Among the Nations by Israel's Yad Vashem Memorial for saving Jews during the Nazi era .
Since 1953, the State of Israel has honored people as Righteous Among the Nations who took great personal risks between 1933 and 1945 and put their lives in danger in order to protect Jews threatened with deportation to labor or extermination camps . In Yad Vashem, a plaque is placed for each person in the Garden of the Righteous Among the Nations , and a tree was planted for each of the early honored people in the Alley of the Righteous Among the Nations , but this has become rare due to lack of space. As of January 1, 2019, the righteous totaled 27,362, including 22 British.
Due to the large number of people, the list is divided according to nationalities. For other nations, see List of the Righteous Among the Nations .
The list is arranged alphabetically by last name. The year of the honor is given after the name.
