- ↑ a b c During Jacques de Chambly's tenure, the privateer Jurriaen Aernoutsz occupied Arcadia and declared it a Dutch territory. The administrator he appointed, John Rhoades, lost control of the territory within a few months and France regained possession. The Dutch West India Company appointed Cornelius Van Steenwyk as governor of "New Holland", but this title only existed on paper.
