layout

  • Right agger

To the right of the Agger, a largely unpaved path leads from Schiffarther Strasse to the hammer mill. Steep, wooded mountain slopes in the direction of Lohmar - Spechtsberg and individual groups of trees with wet meadows towards the Agger in the direction of Wahlscheid give the path a natural look. The Steffensbach flows to the Agger as an orographically right tributary in the Aggerbogen. After the Steffensbach, at least three more unnamed streams also flow into the Agger from the right.

  • Left agger

On the left of the Agger, a generously paved path in April 2009 leads from Schiffarther Straße below the wooden Agger bridge to the Aggerbogen. From there two paths go around a sports field. The Aggerbogen nature school faces the Agger . The path leads under an underpass of the B 484 near the Aueler Hof. The Aggerufer is densely overgrown. Along the Aggerufers the trees have the character of an avenue, but also distinctive single trees and groups of trees shape the landscape. Towards Schiffarth there is a large meadow area that is used for keeping sheep. In terms of landscape technology, wet biotopes, flood areas and Benjes hedges have also been created and old flood areas have been preserved. Another path is laid out along the B 484. It leads from the parking lot near Aueler Hof to the underpass of the B 484 near the Forum Wahlscheid.

history

criticism

Although the area is designated as a nature reserve, people have been leaving behind more and more rubbish for some years now. The paths are left in order to reach the banks, and no consideration is given to the plants and animals. The use of the Aggerbogen as a local recreation area with a sports field in the nature reserve is not only viewed positively. Furthermore, the spread of so-called neophytes such as glandular balsam or the giant hogweed is viewed critically.

developments

After it became known that the Wahlscheid sewage treatment plant operated by the Aggerverband on the B 484 opposite the southern Wahlscheid was to be demolished in 2010, the plan was drawn up to expand the Aggerbogen landscape garden to include the meadow area of the sewage treatment plant. This would devote even more space to nature conservation in Lohmar. With the expansion of the Aggerbogen landscape garden, the Hohner Bach , a left tributary of the Agger, would also become part of it.
