List of Governors of Maharashtra
The following table lists the governors of Maharashtra since the founding of the state on May 1, 1960 with their respective terms of office. Sri Prakasa was the last governor of Bombay from 1956 to April 16, 1962 and thus the representative head of Maharashtra for two years. Since he was never officially Governor of Maharashtra, he is not listed in the table. During periods of vacancy , the office is regularly exercised by the Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court .
