List of cultural monuments in Dörgenhausen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The list of cultural monuments in Dörgenhausen includes the cultural monuments of the Dörgenhausen district of the Saxon city of Hoyerswerda , which were recorded by the State Office for Monument Preservation of Saxony until August 2017 (excluding archaeological cultural monuments). The notes are to be observed.

The place name of the square village with corridor is reminiscent of the Thuringian settlers. The place is called Němcy (the Germans) in Sorbian. In 1600 and 1777 Dörgenhausen belonged to the lordship of Marienstern Monastery, the place was accordingly Catholic and parish to Wittichenau. The part of the villagers who had become evangelical was parish in Hoyerswerda. In Dörgenhausen, a second, northern Elsterarm used to flow south of Zum Wehr, which in the area of the main road connected again in two arms with the southern Elsterarm, which still exists today. So an island was created in the middle of the village. The village consists of two built-up streets enclosing this island (today Zum Wehr and Am Elstergrund), the development in the southern part of the "island" and the road to Michalken (today Elsteraue), which was also built early. As in the entire Sorbian-Catholic area, the tradition of the setting of the cross took hold. Especially private setting is still practiced today and is part of everyday culture. The older, often very individual witnesses of this culture must therefore be protected and cared for in terms of monument protection. The courtyards in their present form from the late 19th century have been handed down in their authentic, closed form stretching into the depths of the property. Brick, which was left unplastered, served as building material.

The park-like floodplain and former island of the Black Elster was chosen as the location for the chapel. The building presents itself historically in the manner of a Romanesque church. A tower with an onion dome is in front of the nave. Here above the portal there is a sculpture of a saint, which was created by the well-known Hoyerswerda sculptor Jürgen von Woyski . Inside there is a remarkable Gothic altar from the time of the Reformation. As a rare example of church architecture after 1945, it is of architectural and artistic significance. 08975723

Post mill with technical equipment At the windmill 28
(map)
1707 The mill originally built in Tschausdorf-Flaun near Posen in 1707 was dismantled there in 1921 and installed in Dörgenhausen. Here it suffered severe storm damage in 1941, whereupon its business as a contract milling company was discontinued. Restored 1959–1963, municipal property since 1977, maintained by the Dörgenhausen windmill association since 1996, renovated in the 1990s.

Technical Equipment:

  • Drive technology (shafts, crown and comb wheels, etc.)
  • Mill technology (including grinding gear, roller mill, drum screen, bagging bench, several old millstones under the mill box)
  • The electric motor, which can drive the large comb wheel via a friction gear using a car wheel, is used for the demonstration of the windmill and is a later ingredient.

Steindeckerbrücke over the Vincenzgraben
Steindeckerbrücke over the Vincenzgraben Elsteraue (continued at Am Vincenzgraben)
(map)
19th century The stone decker bridge leading over the Vincenzgraben represents a bridge shape typical of the landscape for small bridges with a narrow span. One or more strong, wide and long granite blocks next to each other form a bridge for people and wagons - there were no motor vehicles at the time of their creation. As the latter are getting heavier, more and more stone deck bridges are being replaced by steel-reinforced new buildings. This means a loss for the cultural landscape. The Steindeckerbrücke in the course of Wittichenauer Straße is particularly impressive with nine exceptionally strong and long granite blocks. There is a historical significance. 08975826

Detailed memorial texts

  1. ↑ Post mill :
In a post mill, the mill box constructed in wood is rotatably mounted around the vertical "house tree" in a bracket, a fixed support frame made of strong beams. This type of mill is therefore also called a column or box mill. With the help of a long arm, the codend, the mill box can be turned against the wind. The extremely laborious re-turning is simplified by the use of a winch with which the orientation of the codend can be changed using rotary piles that are driven into the ground at intervals around the mill. The four sail gate wings with a length of 19 meters drove the mill technology still preserved today inside the mill box, including a millstone with a diameter of 130 cm and a roller mill. With a wind force of 2 to 4, the windmill could process five to six decitons (i.e. 500 to 600 kilograms) of grain within 24 hours. In the bay-like extension of the mill box was the miller's bedroom, the so-called Feis. Due to the rarity of this oldest type of windmill in Europe today, the post mill is particularly important in terms of construction and technology. In addition, despite its implementation in the 20th century, it has shaped the local and economic history of its new location in Dörgenhausen for two decades, so that the mill has a testimonial, but also memorable and experience value for its relatively new environment. The ability to dismantle the wooden structure and the subsequent change of location are, in turn, characteristic features of all post mills.
