Bahnhofsplatz 1 | Central Station | The first Kiel train station was built between 1843 and 1846 at Ziegelteich, around 500 meters north of the current location. This station was no longer appropriate for the growing traffic, especially that of a Reich War Port , to which Kiel had been declared in 1871. Construction began in 1895. In 1944, the main station was badly damaged in a bombing raid by the Allies. From 1950 the station was rebuilt in a simplified form. | |
