history

In 1927/1928 Germany's first multi-storey dairy was built in the Gaarden district of Kiel according to plans by the architect Johann Theede . In 1930, JW Seibel , founded in 1882, took over the building and turned it into a margarine factory that was in operation until the late 1970s. After that, the building was used as a warehouse and for selling animal feed for a while. In 1983 the Seibel margarine factory was placed under a preservation order, the following year the dilapidated, non-functioning chimney was demolished.

In the following years the Seibel margarine factory changed hands several times. The building came into the possession of the Kiel master hairdresser Wolf-Dieter Klinck in 1998 via the Kiel property office , Ufa Theater GmbH and a Hamburg investor group . Together with the city of Kiel, he developed a conversion and usage concept. The building was renovated and modernized for 2.2 million euros. Among other things, a glazed staircase with an elevator was built.
