The Kottewitz 23 stable house and the Kottwitz 1 barn are part of one of the best preserved villages in the district of Meißen. Despite some changes, the picturesque town center of Kottewitz still appears self-contained and provides an impressive picture of the house landscape in central Saxony, mainly because a comparatively large number of characteristic half-timbered buildings have been preserved in a small space. The Kottewitz 23 stables house is one of them. Here the construction is only hidden under planking. Apart from that, it and the neighboring houses of the Kottewitz 22 property form an important assembly for the townscape. The Kottewitz 1 barn is part of what is still the most impressive courtyard in the small settlement. According to what has been presented here, the monumental property of the objects added is primarily a result of their architectural significance, ie their exemplary value for the rural architecture of Central Saxony, especially in the first half of the 19th century and shortly before that. (LfD / 2011.)
