List of natural forest reserves in Saxony

The list of natural forest reserves in Saxony contains eight (as of March 2017) natural forest cells in Saxony . The list shows the official designations for name, identifier, natural area , size and the year of designation. The geographical location is averaged and the information about the district or the urban district refers to this information. However, the areas can also extend over several administrative districts.

For about 40 years (more since the nature conservation year 1970), natural forest reserves have been designated throughout Germany in order to preserve a range of total reserves. Natural forest reserves are forests that are largely in a natural state. The natural forest development takes place here undisturbed. In the course of time, primeval forests with strong trees and a lot of dead wood develop there . The currently eight natural forest cells in Saxony have a total area of ​​303 hectares. That is 0.06% of the forest area in Saxony and thus the lowest area share in Germany. The natural forest cells are protective forests in accordance with Section 29 of the State Forest Act and are determined by a declaration from the forest authority.
