List of parishes in City Deanery 8/9 (Archdiocese of Vienna)

The City Deanery 8/9 is a dean's office in the Vicariate Vienna City of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Vienna .

It comprises seven parishes in the 8th district of Josefstadt and the 9th district of Alsergrund with around 31,000 Catholics. Four of the parish churches are located on Alsergrund and three in Josefstadt.

Diocesan development process

On November 29, 2015, development areas were defined for all parishes in the Archdiocese of Vienna. The parishes should work more closely together in the development areas, form parish associations or pastoral care rooms. At the end of the process, new parishes should emerge from the development areas. In the city dean's office 8/9 the following development areas were defined:

  • Canisius Church, Lichtental, Rossau and Votive Church
  • Alser Vorstadt, Breitenfeld and Maria Treu
